Payge McMahon writes for Women’s Adventure Magazine on what it is like, Gearing Up for a 160-Mile Backpack Race. She has spent the past six-months training and gearing up  for the inaugural Grand to Grand Ultra.  A first of its kind self-supported ultra in North America, it is a first of any kind of marathon for McMahon.  More of a backpacker and mountain climber versus a runner, she is stepping out of her comfort zone for this amazing challenge.  Competitors must backpack all their own food and gear for the seven day, 160 mile course.  It starts at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and goes around Zion National Park.  Read her article on how she has trained and geared up for this incredible event!
